Group tour mode

We can leverage Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT), a robust wireless communication standard known for high-quality audio and low interference, to create guided group tours .

This system allows one Podcatcher to broadcast to the rest of the group, ensuring everyone shares the same audio experience simultaneously, regardless of physical proximity.

Essential Features of DECT Technology

  • Crystal clear sound and a bandwidth of 12kHz (with latency of ~14 milliseconds)

  • Interference-free communications

  • Automatic channel selection, eliminating the need for frequency planning

  • Well-suited for both indoor and outdoor use

  • Capable of forming groups with up to 128 visitors

  • Built-in microphone and jack plug for convenient broadcasting

  • Reach of up to 50 meters indoor and 300 meters outdoor

How to Implement the Group Tour Mode

Step 1: Enable Group Tour Functionality to a Beacon

First, access the Guide-ID platform and navigate to the "Hardware" tab. Open the "Group Tour" sub-tab.

Step 2: Assign a Beacon to the Group Tour

Follow the intuitive step-by-step wizard available on the platform to assign a beacon to the group tour feature. Make sure to sync these new changes to the Podcatchers.

Step 3: Create a Group Leader Podcatcher

When a Podcatcher scans the designated beacon, it will vibrate, indicating its conversion to a Group Leader Podcatcher. An audio prompt will further confirm this transformation and guide the user on the subsequent steps.

Step 4: Join the Group

Visitors wishing to join the group now only need to hold their Podcatchers near the Group Leader Podcatcher, instantly integrating them into the group.

Once the group setup is completed, the Group Leader can talk into their Podcatcher, and the message will be Broadcasted to all other associated Podcatchers, thereby creating a synchronized group listening experience.

By simply implementing this feature, you can add a new dimension of collaborative learning and shared experiences to your museum visitation.
