Understanding AV-Sync for Museum Exhibits

AV-Sync enables visitors to listen to the audio in their own language in perfect sync with the video on display.

AV-Sync enables visitors to listen to the audio in their own language in perfect sync with the video on display.

What is AV-Sync?

With AV-Sync, audio content is perfectly synchronized with video content. This means an unlimited number of visitors can watch a video displayed on a screen and listen to the corresponding audio track on a Podcatcher Pro, all in real-time and in their preferred language.

Think of it like a conductor keeping an orchestra perfectly in time – it makes sure that when visitors see something happen on screen, they hear the corresponding sound at exactly the right moment.

Quick Reference

AV-Sync at a Glance:

  • Synchronizes Podcatcher Pro audio with video displays
  • Supports multiple languages simultaneously
  • Requires Guide-ID Brainbox hardware
  • Enables multilingual video experiences without multiple screens

Benefits for Your Museum

AV-Sync transforms your video exhibits by:

  • Offering audio in multiple languages without duplicating screens
  • Allowing visitors to control their own volume
  • Enabling assistive audio options for accessibility
  • Eliminating the need for separate headphone stations

Prerequisites

Before implementing AV-Sync, you'll need:

  • Guide-ID Podcatcher Pro devices
  • Guide-ID Brainbox
  • Media player or compatible display (we recommend Brightsign)
  • Original video content files
  • Guide-ID AV-Sync Tool software AV-Sync-Video-Tool-0.5.exe (optional)

How AV-Sync Works

The AV-Sync system works by:

  1. Extracting the original audio from your video
  2. Replacing it with a special timecode track
  3. Delivering the original audio to Podcatcher Pro devices
  4. Maintaining perfect synchronization through the Guide-ID Brainbox

Note: The timecode is inaudible to visitors - they'll only hear your content in their selected language.
