Adding Layers to a Tour

3 min read Updated Jun 2026 15 steps

Add layers to your tour stops to create interactive experiences such as optional audio, quizzes, and surveys.

  • Additional audio — provide extra information (e.g., historical background) as an optional layer so visitors can choose to listen or skip ahead.
  • Quizzes — engage visitors with questions and score tracking. Effective for children’s tours or competitive elements.
  • Surveys — collect visitor data such as age range, travel distance, and preferences.
  1. Open your tour in the Tour Editor.
  1. Click the stop where you want to add a layer.

  2. Click Open clip view to see the clip timeline.

  1. Hover over the clip and click the + icon that appears.
  1. Observe the new clip that appears, connected to the previous clip with an “Auto play” label.
  1. Click the Auto Play dropdown on the connection line and select a button option (e.g., “Up button”).

  2. Add guidance text in the first clip, such as “Press the up button to learn more about the painter’s life.”

  1. Hover over the new clip and click the + icon to the right to add answer options.

  2. Repeat to add up to four options (left, up, right, and down buttons). The clips are automatically grouped together, shown by a grey outline.

  1. Add additional layers by clicking the + button below a clip or group and repeating the process.
  1. Click the settings icon on a quiz clip.

  2. Toggle on Enable scores and use the dropdown to assign a point value.

  1. Toggle off Enable scores for wrong-answer clips if you do not want to award points for incorrect responses.

  2. Enable Allow the visitor to replay the previous audio clip if you want visitors to retry a question. Note that visitors do not receive points if they answer incorrectly first and then correctly after a retry.

  3. Click Save to apply all layer changes.

Your layers are now active and will be available to visitors after you publish the tour.
