Troubleshooting

Beacon Not Detected

2 min read Updated Jun 2026 4 steps

If your Podcatcher Pro is not detecting a Beacon or not triggering audio at a tour stop, follow these troubleshooting steps.

Beacon Pro and Beacon Lite devices are battery-powered. A depleted battery will prevent the Beacon from broadcasting its signal.

  • Beacon Lite — replace the CR2032 coin cell battery
  • Beacon Pro — check the battery status in the Platform or replace the battery

For reliable triggering, the Podcatcher Pro should be within approximately 30 cm of the Beacon. Make sure:

  • The Beacon is positioned at an accessible height
  • There are no large metal objects blocking the signal
  • The visitor is close enough for the Podcatcher Pro to detect the Beacon
  1. Log in to the Platform
  2. Open your tour in the Tour Editor
  3. Confirm the Beacon is assigned to the correct tour stop
  4. Verify the Beacon ID on the physical device matches the one in the Platform

The Podcatcher Pro uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to detect Beacons. If the device has been restarted, Bluetooth should be enabled automatically. If detection issues persist, try restarting the Podcatcher Pro.

If a single Beacon is not being detected, try swapping it with a known working Beacon to determine whether the issue is with the Beacon itself or the Podcatcher Pro.

Contact helpdesk@guide-id.com with the Beacon ID, device serial number, and tour name.
