Alarm

2 min read Updated Jun 2026 4 steps

Museums frequently encounter the problem of visitors neglecting to return Podcatchers. The alarm functionality addresses this through Beacon Pro technology, which triggers alerts when devices approach exit zones.

The system uses UWB (Ultra Wideband) technology to establish designated “alarm zones.” When a Podcatcher Pro enters this zone, it produces an audible alert and vibration, followed by a reminder message prompting device return.

Identify museum exit areas where the alarm will activate. For larger spaces, multiple Beacon Pros may be necessary to avoid overlapping with regular tour routes.

Access the Hardware tab, then the Alarm sub-tab to begin setup through a guided wizard.

  1. Navigate to Hardware > Beacons page.

  3. Set the trigger radius (up to 10 meters; zones are circular).
  4. Toggle the switch on the Beacon Pro’s back to “on.”
  • Check battery status regularly via the Platform.
  • Charge monthly with a power bank to extend lifespan.
  • Alternatively, permanently connect via USB-C to a power source.
