Alarm
Museums frequently encounter the problem of visitors neglecting to return Podcatchers. The alarm functionality addresses this through Beacon Pro technology, which triggers alerts when devices approach exit zones.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”The system uses UWB (Ultra Wideband) technology to establish designated “alarm zones.” When a Podcatcher Pro enters this zone, it produces an audible alert and vibration, followed by a reminder message prompting device return.
Setup process
Section titled “Setup process”Step 1: Define the alarm zone
Section titled “Step 1: Define the alarm zone”Identify museum exit areas where the alarm will activate. For larger spaces, multiple Beacon Pros may be necessary to avoid overlapping with regular tour routes.
Step 2: Configure in the Guide-ID Platform
Section titled “Step 2: Configure in the Guide-ID Platform”Access the Hardware tab, then the Alarm sub-tab to begin setup through a guided wizard.
Step 3: Assign Beacon Pro
Section titled “Step 3: Assign Beacon Pro”- Navigate to Hardware > Beacons page.
- Select Alarms > Add new alarm.
- Set the trigger radius (up to 10 meters; zones are circular).
- Toggle the switch on the Beacon Pro’s back to “on.”
Battery maintenance
Section titled “Battery maintenance”- Check battery status regularly via the Platform.
- Charge monthly with a power bank to extend lifespan.
- Alternatively, permanently connect via USB-C to a power source.
