Syncconsole specifications

4 min readUpdated Nov 2026

This page lists what a PC needs to work as a Syncconsole, and where to find the specsheet of the Syncconsole we deliver.

A Syncconsole is the PC that connects your Dockingstations to the Platform. We deliver a Syncconsole (a NUC mini-PC), but you can also use your own PC, for example for an extra Syncconsole in the office or at a partner. Any new PC from a store is very likely good enough.

The standard Syncconsole is an Intel NUC. For its details, download the Syncconsole (NUC) specsheet (PDF).

ItemRequirement
Operating systemWindows 10 or Windows 11
Memory (RAM)At least 512 MB
Free disk spaceAt least 1 GB; preferably 100 GB or more, so Windows can keep installing updates

NetworkWired (Ethernet) connection; WiFi only is not enough
UptimeSwitched on and connected to the internet 24/7
PowerPC and Dockingstations connected to power 24/7
UpdatesWindows Update switched on (automatic updates)
RightsAdministrator rights to install the software

The Syncconsole software does not run on Linux or macOS.

  • Prefer USB 2 ports. We have seen problems with USB 3 ports. USB 2 ports are usually black, USB 3 ports are usually blue.
  • Limit the number of Dockingstations. Do not connect more than 20 Dockingstations (200 devices) to one Syncconsole. Usually 10 Dockingstations share one USB hub.
  • Do not chain USB hubs. Connect Dockingstations only to hubs, and hubs only to the PC. Never plug a hub into another hub. If you do this anyway, mention it whenever you contact us about sync problems.
  • Never use USB extension cords. Use only the USB cables we provide (about 1.80 m / 6 ft). If you need more length, move the PC or the Dockingstations closer together. Extended cables cause sync problems that are very hard to diagnose.

Network requirements for your IT department

Section titled “Network requirements for your IT department”

Connect the Syncconsole to your guest network if you can, so your internal network stays protected.

The Syncconsole needs outgoing HTTPS access to:

  • api.guide-id.com
  • pguideidweust.blob.core.windows.net

If your site connects to the internet through a proxy server, see Syncconsole installation.
